Vouvray

We awoke the next morning and took a bath, which was a little interesting as there was no plug and I had to cover the hole with my leg.  All in all the bath was lovely and prepared us for our day.  We left the hotel, and boarded a metro to a differnt train station and headed off of a train for Tours.

For some reason, the train did not quite make it to our desired stop, so we had to get on a bus to take us the rest of the way to a differnt part of the city. At the train station while trying to figure out the bus system, I had the most embarassing moment of the trip thus far.  While getting off the last train, I sat down to pick up my pack and met up with John who was waiting on the platform.  We walked to the train station together and got up to the ticket counter before someone clued me in that my skirt was entirely stuffed up between my backpack and my back.  Thus revealing my pantyhose and pretty much everything else (in the back), Mortifying.  But we moved on.

We knew that we wanted to go to the small village of Vouvray, the town that produces our favorite wine, but weren't quite sure which vintner we wanted to go to so before heading out to Vouvray we stopped by the local tourism information centre and asked for advice.

After trying very hard to find a bus, we were finally on our way.  We passed some amazing houses that were cut into the sides of the cliffs, or actually apart of the cliffs themselves. The only way that you could see some of them was the fact that there were windows randomly placed on the rockface.  It was pretty amazing.

We got off the bus, and walked a bit through a very quaint French town till we found the caves that we were looking for.

After the tour we got to taste the different wines that they produced. I really liked the 2003 demi-sekt still wine and John really liked the medium sweet sparkling wine. Now John is schlepping around several litres of wine in his backpack.  Bummer, huh? We talked to the tour guide a little after the tour.  We told her that we were traveling around, which she already knew as we arrived at the caves with our packs, to which she replied, "So, are you sleeping outside?" in a very pretentious french accent.  Sigh.  Yeah.  So we got back on the bus in the rain and barely got back to the train station in Tours to grab some pizza and grab the wrong train.

After four hours on the train, we arrived in Nantes and immediately found a hotel next to the train station and booked it for the night.  By this point, John's cold was pretty bad, so we went immediately to bed.  Not a very exciting day, although we did get some good wine out of the deal.

It sounds like you are having a good time despite your embarrassing moment. John is going to have to watch your backside from now on :)
