I have big lips. I have big, red lips. Lipstick makes them appear even larger and even redder even if it is clear or a blush lipstick. Also being a tall woman with big boobs and a "heavy set figure" when I wear lipstick I feel not pretty but like a transvestite trying to pull off a caper.
When I was a teenager, Mom took me to Merle Norman to try on make up. We wouldn't buy anything there but went to Target and got the same colors and stuff a lot cheaper. When I got home from Target with all my stuff it just wasn't the same. I looked okay but my face didn't light up like it had at the store. I couldn't figure it out.
It wasn't until years later when I worked retail for a year that I figured out what was wrong - I hadn't bought and therefore wasn't wearing lipstick!
All the things Jaci said are basically true but, if you wear the right shade, your lips don't scream for attention but complete your look.
I don't wear a lot of make up but my husband likes it when I wear lipstick. He won't kiss me but he likes the look!
1. That your food tastes funny?
2. That you get red teeth?
3. Staining your clothes?
4. Leaving lipstick prints on glasses that will not get washed off?
5. Being a slave to your makeup?
6. That people look at your mouth instead of your eyes because your lips scream for attention?
Hmm... Sorry can't think of one benefit of lipstick. You want to try and convince me?
Lipstick is fantastic. It is like the breakfast of make-up ( you know, the most important?).
If you buy non-cheap and nasty lipstick or use lipstick that isn't old, or don't borrow it from your grandma, you food won't get the funny food taste, and it won't rub off on glasses. I don't think I've recently been a sufferer of lipstick on the teeth, or have ever had stained clothes from it. And like BigSis said, it brightens up your face in a way that eye make-up alone can't.
As for being a slave to my make-up, I think that the little bag I carry has a pair of tall leather boots, and a whip stashed somewhere. I love wearing it. I feel more confident and have a better day. Although, I must admitt that in this heat, its not very practical.

Just a note from someone with big lips

Totally going with BigSis on this one.
