Freakishly Happy

So as my wonderfully wonderful husband has been telling you, we are getting all geared up for Christmas! Christmas here is fabulous! The streets are all alive, and there is no sense of overwhelming commercialization like there is in the States.
It's kind of weird not getting ready for finals. After Christmas break, I have to go back for another month and a half for this semester. It's nice not being stressed out getting ready for Christmas.

Getting the tree was boat loads of fun! We got to walk it home 6-7 blocks from the store. It was just about as good as going to get it at a tree farm. Seeing everyone smile and wink at us on the street really put me into the Christmas mood. I'm also very excited to decorate. I'm hoping we can find cranberries to string up and maybe some pretty apples and pine cones.

It was an excellent week this week. The sun was shining for most of it, and the weather was mild. As I walked home from the trainstop today I could smell snow in the air! Hopefully we get dumped on!

I'm planning on going to the WeihnachtsMarkt again tomorrow. They have these fried potato things with applesauce that I'm dying to try and Gluhwein (hot sweet wine.. hmmmm)

Oh! Oh! Oh! I tried a chestnut that had been roasted on an open fire today... Not all they're cracked up to be. Sort of like last summer when I tried boiled peanuts. In both instances I was expecting salty, roasty, crunchy goodness. Not so friends. Mushy, bland, icky textured badness... Try for yourselves, but don't say you weren't forewarned.

Well, I think that I'm going to shovel off to bed. It's late and I'm pooped. John snorring peacefully next to me is making me durn sleepy. Have a good day all!
