Christmas in Germany

Today we went to Freiburg's Weihnachts Markt (Christmas Market). Its located in the middle of a Platz in the middle of town. It's probably 1 city block square in size. They have all kinds of food stands, and gift stands. There's booths with Glühwein (hot mulled wine) and roasted nuts and pasteries and everything good. The streets are all decked out in lights and wreaths, and the air smells like cinnamon and spices.

After the Weihnacts Markt we went to Ikea in search of Christmas decorations, but sadly came home empty handed (except for the 50Euro worth of non-Christmas stuff we came home with). We are going to go out again tomorrow and get a tree and decorations. Does anyone know how to safely put candle on a Christmas tree?

I would love for you guys to write your own blog entries about your family's Christmas traditions, and how you are getting into the holiday spirit!
