So today was the day that the sun decided to start going to bed earlier. It was around 4:45 tonight when it became almost completely black outside. It was crazy because normally our classroom faces east so we're all normally squinting during the entire two hours. But today, it slowly got darker and darker and darker until the professor realized he couldn't read his classnotes. We were all sitting there hoping he wouldn't notice.
As I walked home today I saw a really great thing. In Freiburg there are a lot of homeless "punk" kids (well, they're my age)who hang out on the streets. Its kind of interesting because it seems like this particular style of punks hasn't changed since the early 80s, mohawks and funky colored hair and always a black leather jacket.
Well anyway, this people are acutally pretty nice, and they'll smile at you on the street and talk to you if you actually approach them. I passed one of these such people as I walked home form class tonight. My first instinct was to walk right on past, but then I noticed that he had a great big happy dog snorring peacefully next to him. I walked on a few more steps before turning around to give them some change. I love it when they have happy looking dogs. As I came back around the corner, I realized that not only did the dog look comfortable, he was comfortable because his owner had given him is leather jacket to sleep on and was sitting outside (shivering) in his shirtsleeves in our lovely 40 degree weahter. Now that's devotion!
